My War of Liberation 1971

This is a biographical narrative of a young Bangladeshi who wanted to free his motherland from the clutches of the occupying Pakistan Army. The atrocities unleashed by Yahya Khan's military forces, fanned by Zulfiquar Al Bhutto, had convinced him that independence of East Pakistan was the only plausible outcome from the mayhem snowballing since 1948. His thinking was greatly influenced by Bangabandhu's sacrifice and brand of leadership. Towards that end the author made it to India in his second attempt with some friends to join other freedom fighters. From training at Melaghar to battle incubation at the Kasba front to operations in Dacca, where his involvement in the war ended after he had to bring back a sick comrade. He was apprehended by his parents and flown to Karachi in October 1971 for everyone's safety. After liberation he did not wait for the official repatriation to begin. Without any passport, he and a couple of friends crossed over to Afghanistan on foot to avoid the border checkpoint. From Kabul to Benapole they were facilitated by the Indian Embassy. He reached his Jhenaidah Cadet College gate at two in the morning.
