This issue constitutes Volume 2 of Six Seasons Review (Numbers 1&2), the only English-language periodical published from Bangladesh devoted exclusively to arts and letters. The response to our first two numbers has been heartening, for many people have told us that they liked the format and the content. But we would like to receive more fiction, poetry, non-fiction prose essays, literary essays/book reviews from our readers (as well as praise). In particular, we look forward to receiving submissions for our fourth issue, which is a special number on Dhaka. Send us stories, poems and essays about the city and its people by January 31, 2003, if you would like to be part of this special number of Six Seasons Review. The title - Six Seasons Review -for this literary journal derives from the subcontinental convention of dividing the year into six seasons: Summer - Grishma (April-June), Monsoon - Barsha (June-August), Autumn - Sharat (August-October) late Autumn - Hemanta (October-December), Winter - Sheeth (December-February), and, Spring - Bashanta (February-April). The only criterion for accepting submissions from contributors is quality writing in English and in English translations - poetry, fiction, non-fiction, drama, belles lettres, interviews, essays on literature, and other arts. The success of Six Seasons Review is entirely dependent on the readers. We hope what we publish will be read with pleasure through all six seasons.
