The book discusses the origin of life and its physical, chemical and biological machinery. But the Breath of Life is still a mystery beyond the scope of scientific enquiry.

M. Innas Ali is National Professor of Bangladesh and Rector, the Independent University of Bangladesh. He got his MSc in Physics from Dhaka University from New York University and Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from London University. He was formerly Professor and Head of the Department of Physics and Dean of the Faculty of Science, at Dhaka University. He was Vice-Chancellor, of Chittagong University, Founding Chairman, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, Member University Grants Commission, Science Advisor to the President of Bangladesh and Vice-Chairman, Bangladesh National Council for Science and Technology (NCST). He was also Professor of Nuclear Engineering, King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah. He is Founding Fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences and Fellow of Third World Academy of Sciences.
