Book Info
This book is a sincere venture to bridge the generation gap. The author recollects the socio-political, academic and cultural atmosphere of Dhaka during the 1950’s and 1960’s and seeks to contrast it with the existing situation. There are strong overtones of nostalgia for the ‘good old days’ and an apparent disdain for the ‘present day violence and disorder. The author's interaction with the prominent personalities and his own observation of the political developments in this country during the past three decades is vividly described in the hope that some of the lesser-known ‘facts’ of history are preserved for future generations.
Iqbal Ansari Khan
Iqbal Ansari Khan was born into a family of politicians. His father Ali Amjad Khan was an eminent politician, a renowned lawyer and a member of the Pakistan National Assembly (1964). His mother Begam Anwara Khatun, one of the earliest Muslim women to receive masters and LLB degrees, became the first Muslim Lady Member of the Bengal Legislative Assembly in 1946 and was re-elected in 1954. Thus, for almost three decades the author Iqbal Ansari Khan has had close association with some of the political stalwarts including A.K. Fazul Haque, Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, Moulana Bhashani, Khawaja Nazimuddin, Fatema Jinnah, Abu Hossain Sarker, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Nawabzada Nasrullah khan, Pir Ali Mohammad Rushdi and Lundkhor. Khan received Master's and Law degrees
