A. K. Khandker Bir Uttam was the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Bangladesh Armed Forces during the Bangladesh Liberation War. As Air Vice Marshal, he was the first commander of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF). He served the Government of Bangladesh as planning minister and diplomat.
