Volume I contains Swadesh Bose’s pioneering contribution to regional economic cooperation submitted as a Ph.D. dissertation to the University of Cambridge. In this volume, he lays out a rigorous analysis of the prospects and hopes for mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between all the countries of South Asia.
Swadesh Ranjan Bose (1928-2009) was indeed a Bengali patriot and naturally a soldier who had committed his life to his mother language and was ready to embrace martyrdom. He was an internationally distinguished economist, and a visionary thinker on regional economic cooperation in South Asia, a subject that today occupies the maximum time at the Summit meeting of the heads of seats of South Asian countries.
