This selection is a small sample of all I have written, but they are the most self-contained in terms of vision. I usually write on the run and often illegibly and although I have tried to keep my writings intact, it will take me a few more years to gather what I have written during the seven years since the first book, as well as to channel the experiences of those years, from the flood into a form. These poems were written in the last three years of college and the months that followed graduation. They are alive in these pages because of a singular force: that of the attempted unfettered walk, in boulevards and back streets, dirt roads and footpaths near highways and across oceans. I have often achieved such a walk, with one’s boot sole unbound, but many times have been left at the wayside wanting it.
