"Fakhruddin Ahmed was born in 1931. He obtained MA in International Relations from Dhaka University in 1952. He joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1954. From 1957-71 he served in different capacities at the Pakistan Diplomatic Missions in Jedda, New York, Tehran, Accra and at the Foreign Ministry in Islamabad. Following independence of Bangladesh he was appointed Additional Foreign Secretary in January, 1973 and later he served as Foreign Secretary from October, 1974 to November, 1975. He served as Ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy (1976-77), to Yugoslavia (1978, 1982) and as High Commissioner for Bangladesh to the United Kingdom (May 1982 to July 1986).
