Nazrul Islam, who taught at BUET from 1955-65, is a renowned engineer, administrator ad policy-maker of Bangladesh. He served as Chairman, Petro Bangla (1976-80), Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (1980-84), BCSIR (1983-84), Member, Bangladesh Planning Commission (1984-87), and Rector, PATC (1989). He was the convener of several Energy Sector study in the Report of the Task Force on Bangladesh Development Strategies for the 1990's (UPK, Dhaka 1991).
