Talukder Maniruzzaman (1 July 1938-29 December 2019) was Professor of Political Science at the University of Dhaka and a leading scholar of South Asian politics. His books include Group Interests and Political Changes: Studies of Pakistan and Bangladesh, The Security of Small States in the Third World, and Military Withdrawal from Politics: A Comparative Study. He served as advisory editor for the Cambridge Encyclopedia of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and was named a National Professor by the Government of Bangladesh in 2006.
