Salma Khan, a professional economist trained at the University of Dhaka (Bangladesh), Chicago University and University of Connecticut (USA) has been involved in women and development planning for more than ten years and was responsible for setting up the Women's Desk in the Planning Commission. She taught economics at the University of Chittagong. She has more than 25 publications on various issues relating to women in development. Ms Khan is currently working as the Chief in-charge of Women's affairs, Social Welfare, Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Mass Media sectors in the Planning Commission, Bangladesh. Salma Khan represented Bangladesh in many international conferences, symposium, etc. relating to women in development.
