Muhammad Obaidur Rahim was born in Kolkata, India. He moved to East Bengal with his parents in 1952. He studied at St. Gregory’s High School, Dhaka College, and the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan. He has a Master of Technology degree (Mining) from Indian School of Mines and an MS in engineering (Mining) from West Virginia University. He is the third son of the late Khuda Buksh. He is the lead general engineer with a research and development organization in the US government. Rahim has over thirty years of engineering experience particularly on ventilation, maintenance engineering, system design and development, and configuration management. Obaidur Rahim enjoys sports, travelling, and reading books. He has several technical research reports and papers in prestigious journals. Rahim is married and has two daughters.
