Meherun Ahmed

Meherun Ahmed, Associate Professor of Economics, joined Asian University for Women (AUW) in Fall of 2010. She has received both her Ph.D and MA in Economics from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, USA. At AUW she teaches microeconomics, development economics, labor economics, and Game Theory. Her research focuses on the microeconomic analysis of household behavior, with an emphasis on investment in education and health, migration, crisis coping mechanisms, nutrition, poverty, inequality, as well as labor force supply. She also served as the Associate Dean of special programs at AUW. Before Joining AUW, she was an assistant professor at Carleton College in Minnesota, USA. She has worked for many national and international development agencies and think-tanks like the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, International Organization of Migration, and Institute of Microfinance. She has published in reputed journals and presented her research in numerous conferences.
