Abstract

This chapter discusses Bangabandhu, Bangali National Identity, and Secular Bangladesh and their Political Praxis and Challenges. It unveils the contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to comprehend his imagination of Bangali National Identity and his doctrine of secularism in the light of Sociological discourse and paradigms. The chapter narrates how these Mujibian philosophical models and political praxes have been challenged in post-1975 Bangladesh by the military bureaucrats with the assistance of local and global religious actors. The importance of the Mujibian notion of secularism, pluralism, and inclusiveness has been narrated in the chapter to obtain quality education at the tertiary level of the university.
