Abstract
This chapter discusses the institutionalization of Sociology in Bangladesh, Which is examined here with two purposes, reviewing its present state of functioning and identifying the underlying causes that shaped it in the given form. Towards that goal, several concepts are brought into discussion in terms of their relevance, such as organic growth, diffusion, or structural preconditioning. For clarification, the historical origin of sociology is also taken into consideration in a very brief manner and a number of tentative observations are made to draw plausible inferences about its (sociology) state of functioning in Bangladesh. Although the observations on the state of functioning are not derived from a specific survey, they are empirically grounded in practical experiences and reflected in secondary literature.
