Abstract

This chapter explores the academic discourses of poverty and social inequality issues in workplace settings and suggests strategies to reach international audiences and research excellence. The chapter articulates how social inequality and poverty are produced through the processes of working-class exploitation. Further, the chapter discusses poverty and social inequality in relation to the accumulation of capital. The author unveils the existence of poverty within the processes of inequality, providing a special reference to Bangladesh’s readymade garment (RMG) industry, which can also be applied in similar sectors. The chapter concludes by urging that Sociology as a discipline and the University of Dhaka could adopt an important, effective, and timely action plan with a view to achieving equality in every sector by ensuring social justice, rights, and new opportunities, which should be safeguarded by eliminating prejudiced laws, policies, and practices.
