Dr. M. Zahir, a top company lawyer of Bangladesh has prepared this book in the light of his long experience in the courtrooms and his work with corporate clients. He has also drawn on his knowledge of company and securities laws in the UK and Australia. Having obtained his B. A. (Hons.) and M.A. in English Literature and LLB at Dhaka University, Zahir got enrolled as an Advocate of Dhaka High Court in March 1962. He passed his English Bar exams in 1963 and took LL.M. from the University of London in 1964. He did pupilage with Mr. Christopher Staughton, (later Lord Justice Staughton of the English Court of Appeal) specialising in mercantile practices. He was called to the English Bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1965 and got his Ph.D. on company law at the University of London in 1966. He resumed his law practice in Dhaka and taught Company Law at Dhaka University for 20 years. He worked for over a year in 1974-75 at the Australian Attorney General's Department and was involved in drafting the Securities Laws of Australia when he was also called to the Australian Bar in Canberra. He also worked for a brief period at the New South Wales Law Reforms Commission. Dr. Zahir was enrolled as a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court in 1978 and is currently a well known name in the commercial world. He was elected a member of the Court of Arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris. He has authored a book on Delay in Courts and has served as member and convenor of several Company Law Reforms Committees in Bangladesh. P
