Professor Dr. M Sekander Hayat Khan received his Ph.D degree in mathematical statistics from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 1979. Currently holds the position of a Supernumerary Professor at the Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT), University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. During his long teaching career since 1973, he served a number of universities at home and abroad. He was a Teaching Fellow at the University of Otago, New Zealand; Visiting Professor at the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey and also at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman; Visiting Faculty at Carolina Population Centre, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and Pro Vice-Chancellor at East West University. He has a strong background of conducting research and published a large number of research papers in reputed international and national journals. His main contribution lies in the area of probability theory. He also served as the Editor of the Journal of Statistical Research (JSR) for more than two decades.
