Celebrating the 84th birthday of the indomitable Professor Niaz Zaman, this festschrift brings together fifteen scholarly essays from her colleagues, students, and admirers. Edited by Fakrul Alam and M.A. Quayum, the collection traverses the vast intellectual landscapes that Zaman has enriched over her fifty-year career as an educator, award-winning translator, and pioneering writer. The volume explores critical intersections of Gender, Literature, and Culture. Highlights include incisive analyses of Partition in Bengali fiction, anti-colonial resistance in the works of Kazi Nazrul Islam, and feminist perspectives on trailblazers like Begum Rokeya. From the symbolic mobility of the bicycle to the nuances of translating Rabindranath Tagore, these essays mirror Zaman's own tireless curiosity and commitment to globalising Bangladeshi literature. This book is a vital tribute to a ‘literary lighthouse’ whose legacy continues to shape the academic consciousness of South Asia.
