Importance of Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) has been felt more than ever for ensuring sustainability of water resources and environment as well as every individual’s reliable access to enough safe water. সবুজ সৌন্দর্যে বাংলাদেশের তুলনা মেলা কঠিন। তারপরও দেশটি বন সম্পদে মোটেও সমৃদ্ধ নয়। ১৯২৭ সালে বন আইন সংস্কারের সময় বর্তমান বাংলাদেশ ভূ-খণ্ডে বনভূমির পরিমাণ ছিল মোট আয়তনের ২০ শতাংশ। বর্তমানে তা কমে ছয় শতাংশে নেমে এসেছে। এ পরিসংখ্যানও প্রশ্নাতীত নয়। দেশের দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমাঞ্চলে সুন্দরবন ছাড়া সত্যিকারের বন বলতে যা কিছু অবশিষ্ট আছে তা ছিটেফোঁটা মাত্র। বনভুমির অনেক জায়গায় তৈরি করা যে কৃত্রিম বনায়ন দেখি তা যে প্রকৃত অর্থে বন নয় তা বলার অপেক্ষা রাখে না। সরকারি বনভূমিতে বৃক্ষ ফিরিয়ে আনার চেষ্টা আছে। তবে বিদেশী ঋণের টাকায় ও প্রায় ক্ষেত্রে বিদেশী প্রজাতি দিয়ে বনায়নের যে চেষ্টা তাতে কিছু গা
