This book is a sincere venture to bridge the generation gap. The author recollects the socio-political, academic and cultural atmosphere of Dhaka during the 1950’s and 1960’s and seeks to contrast it with the existing situation. There are strong overtones of nostalgia for the ‘good old days’ and an apparent disdain for the ‘present day violence and disorder. The author's interaction with the prominent personalities and his own observation of the political developments in this country during the past three decades is vividly described in the hope that some of the lesser-known ‘facts’ of history are preserved for future generations.
