Walden Bello is Director of Focus on the Global South and heads its Global and Regional Paradigms programme. He is Professor of Sociology and Public Administration at the University of the Philippines in Manila and is the author of numerous books, including The Siamese Tragedy: Development and Disintegration in Modern Thailand (Zed Books, 1998), Dragons in Distress (Food First, 1990) and Dark Victory: the United States, Structural Adjustment and Global Poverty (Food First, 1994).
