Ishrat Firdousi (b.1954) has been a professional editor and journalist since 1980. He has been active in English language media beginning with Sunday Star and ended with Financial Express in 2008, after which he went freelance.  

He is one of the most sought-after English language editors in Bangladesh and his book , The Year That Was , published in 1996 is considered a classic. Currently he is working on editing and publishing his media columns.
