Biru Paksha Paul

Biru Paksha Paul is professor of economics and finance at the State University of New York at Cortland.  He was chief economist of Bangladesh Bank on a 2-year stint from December 2014 to December 2016. He directed the research division and acted as one of core members to design monetary policy at the central bank. Dr. Paul received his BSS (Honors) and MSS in economics from the University of Dhaka in 1985 and 1987, respectively.  He earned his MBA in finance from the University of Technology-Sydney in 1999.  He received his MA (2004) and PhD (2007) in economics from Binghamton University, USA.  His papers have been accepted in numerous journals such as the Journal of Asian Economics, Journal of Quantitative Economics, Indian Economic Review, and Energy Economics.  He received the outstanding achievement in research award 2015 SUNY Cortland.

 

Dr. Paul is the lead author of the Bangladesh Bank special publication, Vibrant Bangladesh: A Stable and Potential Economy.  Based on his dissertation, he authored a book, Essays on Indian Business Cycles and Inflation. Mr. Paul writes in national newspapers on macroeconomic policies.  His books in Bengali include the topics such as free market economy, banking, growth, and debate.
