Sumon Rahman

Sumon Rahman studied Philosophy at Jahangirnagar University, Development Studies at BRAC University, South Asian Studies at National University of Singapore, and finished his doctorate in Cultural Studies from The University of Queensland. He has more than 20 years’ teaching experience in Philosophy, South Asian Studies and Media Studies in different institutions of Bangladesh and Singapore. Six of his books have been published from prominent publications of Bangladesh. He was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize in 2016 and won the Prothom Alo Borshosera Boi Award in 2018 for his Short Story anthology Nirporadh Ghum. With several journal articles and research grants, he has established himself as not only a proficient academic, but also as a trailblazer in the topics relating to the urban poor communities. He is currently working as a Professor of Media Studies and Journalism and Director of the Center for Critical and Qualitative Studies at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB).
